How to play: Spy

Questions

1. Goal: Everyone sees one secret word. By default, the spy only sees that they are the spy. If “similar word” is enabled, the spy sees a different but related word.
2. Turn: Go around the table. On your turn, ask one question to any player and listen to the answer. Usually play 1-2 rounds, then vote.
3. No: Do not say the secret word, parts of it, or clues that are too direct. Do not look at another player’s screen.
4. Win: Players win if they find the spy. The spy wins if they are not found, or if they correctly call out the shared word at any time.

One line

1. Goal: Everyone draws the secret word together while the spy tries to understand what the group is drawing. With “similar word” enabled, the spy starts from a related word.
2. Turn: Go around the table. Each player adds one line to the shared drawing. After 1-2 rounds, discuss suspicions and vote.
3. No: Do not write letters, numbers, words, or obvious symbol clues. Do not look at another player’s screen.
4. Win: Players win if they find the spy. The spy wins if they are not found, or if they correctly call out the shared word.

One word

1. Goal: Players hint at the secret word with one association, while the spy tries to blend in. With “similar word” enabled, the spy has a related word.
2. Turn: Go around the table. Each player says one association. After 1-2 rounds, discuss who sounded suspicious and vote.
3. No: Do not say the secret word, same-root words, translations, or clues that are too direct.
4. Win: Players win if they find the spy. The spy wins if they are not found, or if they correctly call out the shared word.
